Biomechanical Rider un-mounted Assessment

Initial assessment : £60

Follow up £30 for 30 mins, £45 for 45 mins

Ever wondered if you are crooked? Or have any asymmetries or muscular imbalances which maybe affecting your effectiveness in the saddle or blocking your horses freedom of movement? Perhaps you find some riding movements or aids difficult to perform? This is a comprehensive assessment from top to toe, looking at biomechanical movement, joint range of movement, muscle length, strength and stability.

You will be sent an online Physitracks exercise program of corrective exercise and stretch program to help correct the imbalances. This can run alongside any indicated manual therapy, taping, soft tissue release or even acupuncture treatment. This will improve rider effectiveness and performance to allow for clear and effective aids, avoiding unnecessary movement, thus helping maintain a consistent light contact with the horses mouth and the ability to adopt a correct position in the saddle with a seat independent of the reins, for a happy horse.

You can book an appointment in clinic Markyate, Herts. It's also possible to run rider assessment clinics at your yard/venue where there is multiple interest.

Yard Visit £75 (Mileage may apply)

On horse ridden assessment is also available allowing for immediate rider treatment and immediate results to be felt. For this you would be observed riding simple movements, then have a modified off horse streamlined assessment and treatment, then a remounted assessment to observe changes. This will include video analysis. This is not an assessment of your riding ability or level, more your bodies ability to perform the correct rider aids/postures.

Injury Assessment & Management

Initial Assessment £60

Follow up £30 for 30 mins, £45 for 45 mins

We all get injured at one time or another with horses, ranging from them treading on our toes to mucking out their stables, to us taking a tumble. This package is designed to assess and diagnose the problem and provide you with a management program to help address the issues.

As a Chartered Physiotherapist I use a combination of manual therapy, advice and education of better ways of doing things, biomechanical correction, acupuncture, a personalised Physitracks program of stretches and strengthening exercises to address any muscle imbalances or stiffness present. Physitracks is accessible via an App on your phone or computer so it's easy for you to access your program at anytime!

Kinesiology taping which is great for acute injury management and swelling, adding increased proprioception to a body area for more chronic conditions. It can also help aid performance when riding, providing proprioceptive feedback from the body area to help improve biomechanics and technique. For example, if you find yourself collapsing through one side of your waist when riding a circle or round a bend providing you with a prompt to correct the malalignment.
