In Clinic Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

I treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions such as spinal pain, whiplash, tendinopathies, sports injuries, pre & post operative orthopaedic rehabilitation, common rheumatological conditions, postural/repetitive strain injuries, muscular/joint pain, headaches and poor mobility/general decline in fitness to name a few!

Key Points

What to expect at your Initial assessment:

  • Appointments begin with a thorough history taking and full clinical assessment which, will lead to your diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.

  • During our history taking we will ask about any medication you may be taking, its a good idea to bring details of these along with you.

What should I wear?

  • We advise that you wear comfortable clothing & bring a pair of shorts along if we are seeing you for either hip, knee or lower leg. A vest top is quite a good thing to wear if we are seeing you for your neck, shoulder or back. We may ask you to remove top layers of clothes in order to fully assess you however, this is your choice and we can get around it if you are not happy to.

  • You are welcome to bring someone along with you as a chaperone or significant other. We can organise a chaperone upon request.

Do you need an interpreter?

  • If English is not your first language, we would ask you to bring along a family member that would be able to translate for you. You would have to be comfortable discussing medical information in front of them.

  • We are able to arrange an interpreter with prior notice however, this will be at an additional cost

  • Similarly, if you have any other communication problems such as speech difficulties, severe hearing loss or memory problems. It would be advisable to have someone accompany you.

Under 16?

  • If you are under 16 years of age, we require you to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • We treat children above the age of 7 years

Clinic accessibility:

  • We are situated in a bungalow style building, there is a doorway threshold to enter. If you suffer from mobility problems it maybe best if we were to come and see you in your own home. This would also be a more functional and appropriate venue for you, please email or call me to discuss further.

What is involved within your Physiotherapy appointment?
During your initial appointment I will collect an extensive history of your main problems and background health. Then I will complete a thorough clinical assessment in order to diagnose your condition/conditions. You will receive the most evidenced based treatment for your condition. These may involve, advice & education, exercises/stretches, possibly acupuncture and or hands on manual therapy.
Follow-up review appointments will only be booked if clinically indicated, you will always be given things you can do at home to help yourselves.
