Rider Biomechanial Assessment - at your yard

This is a biomechanical assessment looking at you riding your own horse.
Sarah uses a a combination of the TESTT method developed by Andy Thomas and other screening processes to reveal any imbalances and cheats you may have. This is done through a series of functional movement, strength and stability tests.
Sarah can highlight where any weaknesses, tightness or restrictions are and then uses a sequenced series of neuromuscular activation treatments to make instant, measurable changes to muscle length, strength and function. Each rider will then receive a personal, tailored exercise programme.
Duration approximately 90 minutes
Cost £110 (Clinics of 3 or more riders £90 per rider)
Area: Herts, Beds, Bucks
(mileage may apply)

Rider Biomechanical Assessment - in clinic

This is a comprehensive assessment similar to the assessment done on your own horse however, the main difference being the ridden part is done on Berty the mechanical horse.
Berty allows us to spend more time helping you to correct any old habits, poor movement patterns and address fitness limitations. Franklin balls and other techniques maybe used to help you achieve these riding improvements.
This part is done in the stable gym where Sarah may get you doing some key mobility exercises on the Pilates Reformer or strengthening exercises with the other equipment such as the TRX's or small equipment.
Each rider will then receive a personal, tailored exercise programme to further correct any asymmetries.

Mechanical
Horse

Berty the mechanical horse is a veteran Racewood Trotting horse. He has become an invaluable member of the team, helping riders to identify rider asymmetry and inefficiencies with the use of mirrors.
This is 30 minutes of ridden assessment with postural and movement pattern corrections where indicated. As Berty doesn't spook or run off it allows for hands on postural prompts.
Other aids such as Franklin balls, resistance bands, taping, small weight maybe used to help you achieve these riding improvements, balance and fitness!
Cost £45/30 mins
Grand Prix Dressage Mechanical Horse
This is a very high tech, intelligent simulator which, can show where your weight is being carried in the saddle, from seat bone to seat bone. Also, whether you are heavier on one rein than the other or if you keep one leg on more than the other. He is also super for teaching total beginners to ride.
£50/30 mins
What should I book?
Ever wondered if you are crooked? Or have any asymmetries or muscular imbalances which maybe affecting your effectiveness in the saddle or blocking your horses freedom of movement? Perhaps you find some riding movements or aids difficult to perform?
A ridden biomechanical assessment can help you identify where maybe the missing link in your riding and how to start to improve it or them. The stable gym along with Berty the mechanical horse is a great place to build on the findings from the rider assessment on a one to one rider fitness pathway. The rider Pilates classes are also a great way to build rider suppleness, body awareness and whole body conditioning as well as being a nice social environment.
